Day 17 of building Scout to 1,000 users by the end of summer. Click here if you missed Day 16 yesterday.

1) Signups

Were up to 156 users today.

This week I stopped celebrating the top-line number and stared at the funnel instead.

I mapped the whole visitor-to-paid flow (see below). 4,547 marketing visitors over the last 30 days. 73 started a signup. Of 18 accounts that hit the paywall, 15 abandoned. 18 down to 3 is the deepest leak in the entire funnel. People want the product. They just do not want to commit to a plan to try it, which is an important learning:

Our visitor-to-paid funnel. The deepest leak is at the paywall.

2) What Im Working On

So we shipped a fix: a pay-as-you-go option. Instead of forcing a subscription to see value, you can now pay one time to export creators for a single campaign. Give Scout your brand website, it researches thousands of YouTube creators and ranks your best-fit matches, and if you just need a shortlist for one launch you pay once and export. No plan, no commitment.

The bet: the people abandoning at the paywall are not saying no to Scout. They are saying no to a subscription for a job they only need done once.

3) The Ask

Todays question is one I am wrestling with: whats your favorite usage-based or credit-based pricing model, and why? I would rather learn from what already works for you than guess. Reply and tell me the one that felt fair to pay for.

Peace,
Ramsey
