many startups will spend $2K/mo on Intercom, PostHog, http://Apollo.io to run customer support - meanwhile this costs $0 and converts 10x better. OUR PROCESS:
1. slack notifies me when someone joins Scout
2. I find them on LinkedIn (by hand)
3. I message them immediately and say hi
thats it :)

We used to do big fancy email sequences, AI personalization from key events in PostHog, guess users' LinkedIn from their email with Clay or Origami or whatever and enroll them in a drip campaign
Im sure now with Jev you could even have it score each signup based on likelihood that they churn or whatever and curate the messaging that way
But that misses the point.
We decided to un-automate
For a one key reason:
Many founders automate too early.
I am guilty too. And sure there are many things that should rightfully be automated (writing code, doing boring accounting etc)
In a world where you can basically already automate every part of your job, the things that should remain are the RELATIONSHIPS. Founders: hold onto the sales and support for as long as you can!
Under $1M ARR the automation should be YOU
RESULTS (so far):
> 195 DMs sent by hand since launch
> 89 accept, 30%+ reply
> nearly every paying subscriber came this way
At 5 signups a day your problem isnt support its "founders doesnt want to send mundane messages"
Hit the trail, shake the trees, talk to customers AMAP.
Whats the last thing you un-automated??
Cheers,
Ramsey
